We absolutely love Words Their Way for spelling (although I am a bit biased having taken one of my literacy classes with Dr. Bear). If you are thinking about using this program, you might want to give your kiddos these inventories to see what level they are at.

I am homeschooling my 7yo, and considering this program for her next year, after seeing it used in my older daughter's 4th grade classroom. Is it necessary/helpful to use the Word Sort book for the targeted level?

Or is all of the needed information in the main book?
All the information is in the main book, but the targeted books give you the actual word lists to use - and in my mind is EXTREMELY helpful!
