FyrFlyz Review

Tyler and Cody are now 9 and 10 years old, those tween years.  One of the harder things to do as a tween mom is to think of birthday presents for them or their friends.  Usually I go the boring safe route of gift cards or a $20 bill tucked in a birthday card.   But that was until this arrived in the mail:

Let me introduce you to FyrFlyz!  If you haven't heard of them yet, they are spinning toys that let you create light shows in between your own hands.  All of my boys were amazed by them, from the 5 year old to the 18 year old.

Although he wasn't smiling in this picture (he's at that don't take pictures of me stage) he has been walking around the house for days twisting and turning the FyrFlyz.

Tyler has become quite the pro...

followed in a close second by Cody.

The boys loved their FyrFlyz so much, they even had to take them on our trip to Lake Tahoe, and although you couldn't see the lights in the day, they still caused quite a stir!  Yes we shared reuctantly enthusiastically until mom made us when our mom politely asked us to.

Even Daddy had to get into the action.

The pictures just didn't show the real effect, so here is a video of the boys playing with them.

I will be stocking up on a few FyrFlyz at Toys R Us for upcoming birthday parties because I know they will be a hit! If you want to learn more check out their website http://www.fyrflyz.com/

Disclosure: We recieved two FyrFlyz in order to facilitate our review.  The boys will also recieve a $20 gift card for their efforts.

The Lego Zoo

If you have lego fans at your house, you will want to check out the amazing life-size zoo animals pictured at this site.  The pictures were all taken at the Bronx Zoo next to their real-life counterparts.  The display will be up until September 30th if you are lucky enough to live close by or are planning a trip to New York this summer.  According to the authour, the Bronx has gone "lego crazy" with " Lego installations are being set up in many public spaces".

What lego creations have your kiddos dreamed up?

Hex Bugs Review

Hexbug 1.

I am not a fan of bugs in the house, but I had to make an exception for these cool Nano Hex Bugs.  They are super tiny micro robotic bugs that can scoot through mazes all on their own!  They come packaged in these super cool test tubes that really had my science loving boys excited to play with them.  We invited some of their friends over to test them out, and as you can see from the video below, they had a blast!  My husband loved the fact that the track was easy to put together, and the boys were playing in no time!

The Summer of Kung Zhu

We were lucky enough to be chosen to host a a Zhu-riffic Kung-Zhu Party for our boys and some of their friends.  The kids had a blast playing with all of the fun toys.  The excitement started when the box arrived at our house filled with tons of Kung Zhu toys.  My boys already loved Zhu Zhu parts, but pairing them with the Kung Fu aspect was genius!  My boys are Tae Kwan do nuts so they went wild for them - it will definitely be the summer of Kung Zhu at our house!

Dad hard at work putting everything together.

With the assistance of a helper or two.

Choosing hamsters.  The party kit came with enough hamsters for each boy to get their own.  Several of the moms called later to make sure that it was ok that they came home with them - they were amazed by the generosity of Zhu Zhu Pets™ and MomSelect!

Then it was game on!  Here are a few pics and video of the fun!
(Video by my 14 year old - thank goodness the kiddos are techno savvy!)
